Welcome

Dear Friends and Colleagues

On behalf of the Organising Committee it is my great pleasure to invite you to the World Congress for Hair Research which is being held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre 4th to 6th May 2013.

This triennial congress is the joint meeting of hair research societies worldwide (including the European, North American, Japanese, Korean, Indian and Australasian Societies) and is the major event in the calendar for those with an interest in hair, including specialist physicians, dermatologists, surgeons and scientists from academia and industry. In 2013 we are holding our Congress immediately preceding and in the same venue as the International Investigative Dermatology Conference giving delegates the unrivalled opportunity to attend both meetings.

Planning is well under way for an innovative and stimulating scientific programme. The fields of basic and clinical hair research continue to expand both scientifically and geographically and sessions will include contributions from new and established thought leaders in the specialty. In addition, up and coming scientists and clinicians will be strongly encouraged to share their latest research and we will welcome contributions from research groups within industry. Outcomes will improve our ability to treat patients with hair and scalp disease and the exchange of ideas will have a major impact on future strategies for defining new directions in research and clinical care.

Edinburgh is a wonderful city, both historic and contemporary, and a centre of Scottish culture. In addition to the science we will be arranging a vibrant social programme including our welcome reception at Edinburgh Castle and opportunities to enjoy the local attractions, golf and whisky tasting among them.

We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh!
